Don’t Recycle. Reduce Instead.

August 13, 2014 1 min read

Leigh Ann Evans is leading a movement to make recycling obsolete, she advocates reducing our consumption instead.

In addition to her recommendations for using canvas and mesh bags, she reuses bread bags for her produce and avoids using single-use items.

Ms. Evans cites among her reasons for asking her readers to change their lifestyles, the fact that less than 1% of plastic is recycled, 11% of the garbage collected on a beach cleanup were plastic bags, and the fact that the plastic in the ocean kills about 100,000 marine animals and sea turtles every year.

What is your favorite way to reduce instead of recycle?
