Simply Straws is proud to partner with Groundswell Community Project for their Plastic Free November. Join them on November 5th at Culture Brewery in Solana Beach. Groundswell Community Project is a community of surf sisters, from all different stories, struggles, and adventures of life that are joined together by their love for Mother Ocean! Groundswell, a local San Diego non-profit, launched last summer after founder and Marriage and Family Therapist, Natalie Small, returned from a surf trip to Cuba where she spent time connecting in the waves with the sole female surfer of Cuba, Yaya. There, in a land where the ocean had acted as a boarder,barrier, and boundary, Yaya and Natalie connected through the language of mother ocean and recognized that surfing can be, and is a space where healing, empowerment, and unity can take root!
2 years later, Groundswell Community Project is creating a safe and brave space in Mother Ocean for women overcoming addiction, abuse, sex trafficking, displacement, depression, anxiety, and negative self image to explore and embrace their own beauty and strength as they dive deeper into the beauty and strength of her waves!
But Groundswell believes that healing, transformation, and growth doesn’t stop within the self! It flows through the self and into living out a life that heals, empowers, and unites the world around you! At the end of the 8 week therapeutic surfing programs, Groundswell women are challenged to share their stoke through surf&service opportunities locally and globally as well as making daily choices to love our bodies and mother ocean through living plastic free!
This November we will be celebrating #NoPlasticNovember with a 30 day Plastic Free Live-A-Thon Fundraiser launching with a Plastic Free Pop-up Market Nov 5th at Culture Brewery, Solona Beach. Simply Straws, and like minded plastic free life style companies, will be supporting Groundswell women as vendors at the Market as well as awesome give always through out the month’s challenge!
