I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!
I'm sure you've heard the names Ben and Jerry before, as the duo has some of the best ice cream there is but did you know that the company Ben & Jerry's does some amazing things for the planet and for their employees?
This is why they're first on our 12 Blogs of Joy series.
About Ben & Jerry's:
Ben and Jerry started their ice cream business in 1978 in Burlington, Vermont and grew quickly. By 1980, they were packing pints and delivering them to local Ma and Pa shops in their local town. With the love of their customers, in 1981 they opened their first franchised shop. A lot more happened between now and then that you can read about here.
What we really want to highlight is their social and environment impacts (among many other wonderful things).
In 1988, Ben & Jerry’s was one of the first companies in the world to place a social mission in equal importance to its product and economic missions. Since then, the movement has grown and now has a unifying set of principles and criteria on which to evaluate socially responsible businesses. Certified B Corps satisfy a rigorous set of standards to achieve certification. True to their pioneering spirit, they became the first-ever wholly-owned subsidiary to gain B Corp Certification. And now Simply Straws is one too!
Ben & Jerry’s has always believed in linked prosperity - that all stakeholders connected to our business should prosper as they prosper, from those who produce the ingredients, to employees who make the product, to the communities in which the company operates.
