Chef Mario Batali has joined the Plastic Pollution Coalition’s campaign to refuse single-use and disposable plastics. Mario knows the best way to start the new year is by saying NO to plastic. He shared a holiday message with PPC members,
“Happy holidays! It’s a new world again and there is no better way to celebrate forward-thinking than to stop playing with single-use plastics.”
In 2013, Mario’s restaurants implemented a “straws upon request” policy. Plastic straws in his restaurants have been replaced with paper or compostable straws and are only served upon request. Plastic drink stirrers have been completely replaced by bamboo stirrers.
