We came across Adam Kimble and his incredible journey the other week and we just had to reach out to him -- not only is he extremely passionate about keeping his plastic footprint down to a minimum (or none at all!), but he is doing so while trekking across the USA -- on foot!
Meet the newest member of the Agent for Change Crew, Adam Kimble.
On February 15, Kimble will leave Huntington Beach, California. With a four-person crew in an RV, including his wife, Karen, he has mapped out a 3,030-mile route through the southern portion of the country before heading north to Manhattan. Guinness World Record officials stipulate that a runner can take any route he or she wants, so long as it equals or surpasses the 2,766 miles from Los Angeles to New York. Kimble has added extra mileage to avoid winter weather in the north. (Source: RunnersWorld.com)
Here's what Adam had to say about joining the Simply Straws Agents for Change Crew -- and about his transcontinental footprint:
"As I gear up for this journey on foot across the United States, my mind is consumed with thoughts about the physical demands and logistics of getting our team from California to New York. Looking beyond that, we are going to be on the road for an estimated 45 days, interacting with the great outdoors across 14 different states. Given the amount of time it will take us to move across the country, it's our responsibility to monitor the ecological footprint that we leave as we make the journey. With the vast amount of drinks and other products our team will collectively consumer over the course of a month and half, we hope to avoid single-use plastic products and do our part to reduce plastic pollution. Thanks to Simply Straws, we have a reusable, BPA-free and handmade straws to enjoy those beverages plastic-free!"
We could not agree with Adam more, and are excited to support his journey this year. To follow along with Adam's trek, visit his
