Simply Straws has been recognized as a Best For The World - Environment and/or Community in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. We've gone above and beyond the rigorous certification as a B Corporation and have landed within the top 10% for creating the most positive environmental impact.

But what is a BCorp?

Certified Beneficial Corporations (BCorps) are businesses certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.

B Lab is a nonprofit organization that serves a global movement of people using business as a force for good. Its vision is that one day all companies compete not only to be the best in the world but the best for the world.

Chanelle Sladics, Simply Straws Founder, shares why we're a B Corp and how we're using our business as a force for good.

B Corp is to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee or USDA Organic certification is to milk.

We joined over 700+ BCORP COMPANIES COMMIT TO BEING NET ZERO BY 2030

On December 11, 2019, at the UN Climate Change Conference, COP25, in Madrid, over 500 B Corps took the stage and publicly committed to accelerate the reduction of their greenhouse gas emissions to reach a 1.5 degree trajectory leading to net zero by the year 2030—20 years ahead of the 2050 targets set in the Paris Agreement. In the weeks that followed, hundreds more have joined their ranks, with additional companies signing up daily.

This commitment to significant carbon reduction leading to a net zero future by 2030 is part of the most aggressive climate action effort by a constituency of businesses in the world and demonstrates true leadership in a time of severe environmental and economic unrest and uncertainty.

B Lab drives this systemic change by:

  1. Building a community of Certified B Corporations to make it easier for all of us to tell the difference between “good companies” and good marketing;

  2. Passing benefit corporation legislation to give business leaders the freedom to create value for society as well as shareholders;

  3. Helping businesses measure, compare and improve their social and environmental performance with the free B Impact Assessment;

  4. Driving capital to impact investments through the use of its B Analytics and GIIRS Ratings platform.
